The Vampire Diaries star was sickened by a real life horror when it was revealed that an employee at an outdoor adventure tourism company in British Columbia had shot to death approximately 100 sled dogs over two days in April 2010 in order to thin the pack. So the Ian Somerhalder Foundation kicked into action, joining forces with Change.org to force law makers to stiffen penalties for crimes against animals in the Canadian province. Now, the ISF is announcing that the amendments it demanded be made to British Columbia’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act have become law.
